⏰Time for a seasonal product shift

Published 2 months ago • 3 min read

Hi Reader,

No matter where you are in the world, the seasons are beginning to shift!

After living in Santa Monica for several years where the weather was ALWAYS the same, I so appreciate this change now that I live in Missouri - where it can feel like all four seasons within one month sometimes!

(Just last week I took a video of my daughters dancing to Taylor Swift outside in sunny 65-degree weather...right next to piles of snow from the day before. Simply. Crazy.)

But I digress.

For your business self, this means it's time to look at your product offerings to see if they're set up in a way that lifts your customers' skin health and overall wellness for the 'new' weather ahead.

If you're approaching Spring/Summer with me, this is a great time to start creating or promoting products that help with sun protection, after-sun care, or other Spring-Break-Type products and bundles.

If you're approaching the Fall/Winter on the other side of the world, consider formulating for dry, windy weather (and things for the cold and flu season to support your customers if you're on the aromatherapy side of our industry).

For you, this may mean adding a new product to your line.

For others that offer seasonal products the entire year, this may mean spotlighting the season ahead differently:

  • For Etsy shops (or other marketplace users), move these products to the 'Featured Items' section.
  • For Shopify (or other websites), add these items to your home page or a featured spot on your menu.
  • Start mapping out online marketing opportunities in your content calendar with Instagram, FB, TikTok, email newsletters, etc.
  • For pop-up shops or Farmer's Market vendors, get those samples ready!

Tax Season Notes:

If you're new to the world of the financial side of your business, you might be avoiding the financial part like the plague. I know I did for a long time.

Janet from Paper+Spark is holding a free 4-day training that covers the 3 types of taxes that every e-commerce seller needs to know (for newbies and seasoned sellers alike).

I hesitate to say I wasn't doing the financial part RIGHT until not long ago, and learned everything USEFUL from Janet and her trainings (and have happily deleted the five million Google Searches while trying to figure it out on my OWN from my memory).

She makes this all so very approachable. ('Team Janet' over here.🎯)

The free training is from 3/25-3/28, but you can sign up ahead of time right here!

(And yes, I'm the happiest affiliate you ever did see...I'll share her work and sing Janet's praises from the rooftops!)

Hi Reader, If you've been avoiding Shopify because the setup of a 'real' website seems a whole lot more complicated than a marketplace, you're not alone. That's what is/was holding a lot of people back. I so vividly remember setting up my first Shopify site in 2015, desperately trying to get it up and running before baby #1 was born. It was SUPPOSED to be the easiest platform to learn, but I was trying to do it myself without any guidance, as always (my life's M.O.), and would get stuck for...

Hi Reader, Now, you know I love talking about skin care. And business branding. And wellness. Quite the complementary trio of lifelong passions I have over here! But a little-known secret is that I also LOOOVE talking about all things website building. Platforms, website design, SEO (search engine optimization), discovering quick little coding wins...I love it. This works out well for YOU because I like to test all the things first, and then dish my favorite things out on a shiny silver...
